Village Interviews: 2003 Paris Anti-Iraq War Protest-Including Sergeant Garcia

WEDNESDAY, April 22
7:30 PM
MNN, Channel 67

Dear Friends :

This Wednesday (tomorrow), April 22nd at 7:30 PM, on my little cable show Famousx2 on channel 67, I am re-airing a program of an anti-war protest I accidentally encountered at Jussieu Paris VII University in Paris in 2003 two weeks after the beginning of the continuing invasion of Iraq. The first part is some scenes of the Spanish-French band Sergeant Garcia, who are big over there, and the second is an interview I did with one of the student organizers, a young French woman who had lived in Mexico for two years. As a result of my French's being nearly nothing, très pauvre, and her English's being at about the same level, the interview was conducted in Spanish-Mi español es un poco mejor . If you speak Spanish, you will find it interesting what this young French activist has to say about the war in Iraq and about how the French government has been attacking public education in recent years, and you will have a chance to laugh at my poor Spanish. Whether you speak Spanish or not, you should still find the
whole scene interesting, and you may like the music that makes up the first half. If you are already familiar with Sergeant Garcia, you will find this bare bones free performance interesting if not stellar.

If you are in Manhattan and have access to Time Warner, you can see it this Wednesday April 22nd, at 7:30 pm (DST-that's NYC Daylight Savings Time) on channel 67. On the RCN system, that should be channel 85 or near it.

If you are outside of Manhattan, anywhere in the world, and you have a good high-speed connection on your computer, you can go to MNN - What's On Now or to MNN and click on channel 67 to see it at the same time.

Sometimes MNN does screw up broadcasts, but usually they air things without too many problems.....Be patient.

Best,
Jason

Gardening: Seeds from One Million Gardens

These are the assorted seeds I received today from One Million Gardens.

Cute packaging . . . .

Some seeds are pretty obvious. For instance, the pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

Others are not so obvious. Are those cucumber seeds?
Probably.

And others will just have to be a complete surprise.

I think I like those ones the most . . . .
